Electronic excitement from long-stay act Circuit3 has a new front page. The Overview Effect sees Dublin's Peter Fitzpatrick AKA Circuit3 tease the earbuds with premier skills in the run-up to his third studio album. An EP that offers a multi-faceted approach to the track sees Circuit3 and friends test and hypothesise within the realms of the framework, experimenting and exploring the capabilities of his talents, Overview Effect was mastered by Richard Dowling. He's also worked with Kylie Minogue, Motorhead, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, and David Bowie, so it's just daft to claim modern electronica isn't proper music.


A volley of blip synth opens the track as moody melodics flow into the main movement. Vocals from Alessia Turcato add a duet to the sound, pretty synthesiser fills add spectral and cosmically inclined bounce. A sway of harmonies brush against drops of twinkling tone that spiral and burst around the elevated lyrical passages. Rhyming words and repeating chorus lines keep us snug as a disparate sense of spaciousness yields eternal escapism within the composition.

Dublin based electronic music composer Circuit3 has joined the Manchester based Analogue Trash label to release his next album. Known for the artful and designer sounds that only electronic music can deliver, it's always a pleasure to take a glimpse at the cutting edge of the genre. This flagship single headlines the future release with an anticipation building triple including the A side and video with a remix from Ricardo Autobahn. The pressing also contains the non-album Kosmos 954 which is an instrumental nod towards Soviet space exploration.


Laser zaps and shrill synths open as rhythm builds until bass throbs in the foreground. Melodic vocals add a layer of dramatic story, theatrical science-fiction frames the direction as musical cleverness reinvents the wheel with every passing bar. Extra sound effects and interludes maintain a fresh and novel attitude as the verse and chorus patter provides something for the DJ. Voice choices and rhythmic breaks work in unison with imaginative lyrics that take us on a space-age journey into the future.
