Pete International Airport
Next Of Kin (Featuring Lisa Elle) It Felt Like The End Of The World From The Dandy Warhols, Peter G. Holmström continues the musical adventure with Pete International Airport. A glissando of talents and backgrounds move together in one well-oiled machine of sound and imaginative travel. Out now on Little Cloud Records, his new album It Felt Like The End Of The World takes a body of work mostly written during Covid and releases it into the wild. This third album takes the rock psychedelia to new levels with mixing undertaken by Spooky Electric Co’s Jeremy Sherrer and mastering by Dave Coley at Elysian. Featuring Dark Horses’ Lisa Elle, Next Of Kin takes the position of video single and portrays a sense of progress in times of uncertainty. Enchanting melodies waft up from the dreamy intro, guitars and drums emerging from the chrysalis of sound. Bass forms a solid ground for heady drums and meandering piano to flow in spacious verse sections. Lisa Elle sings with her angelic voice quality that rises and falls with the tune as the song reaches ever further outward. Ambient guitar motifs ring out between the words as harmonising phrases elevate and compliment the sound of the vocal. A tuneful and uplifting relaxation gives Next Of Kin a great atmosphere and an imaginative playground of inspiration. The Matinee
Bad Addiction From Change Of Scene Their new album is out in just a couple of days and making way for the big release is the latest video single. Bad Addiction sees americana and classic rock work together in a well-written and intriguing burst of brilliance. If you like music like The Black Crowes, Butch Walker, or Blitzen Trapper, then The Matinee will be more than suitable for your playlist. The album was made with the genuine skills of Steve Dawson in Nashville, who’s already brought to life music by Matt Andersen, Old Man Luedecke, and Birds Of Chicago. He’s really helped the group to capture the live essence of their songs while ensuring a pitch-perfect rendition that can be put on repeat. We could all probably do with less of one thing or another, but we could get used to having a lot more of The Matinee. A crash of drums brings a smooth and laid-back guitar melody and rhythm. Elements of Fleetwood Mac shine in the chords as the wave-like guitar laps across the breakers. An upbeat vocal enters, with a sense of gospel music highlighting the emotions on the harmony. New feels of breezy blues guitar maintain a firm rock body as the swaying grasses reach out in unison as the breath of the truth moves them in ripples of outward inertia breaking activity. As the music progresses, a gorgeous organ sound shines from a space in the hay-coloured clouds to add an extra comb of the soundscape. Laid-back and as listenable as rivers and birdsong, Bad Addiction from The Matinee is morish and wholesome. Khompa
Tre Trigger Contro Tre Trigger Monotreme Records Since 2016’s inaugural The Shape Of Drums To Come, Khompa has been expanding his scope and finding new ways to manifest his unique vision of sound. Mixing organic drumming with mixing and various drum trigger technology, Khompa has knitted a rhythmic and rain resistant fabric of sound that has its own unique style. His work has been featured in Modern Drummer and Ableton Live for its universal inspiration. As drums become triggers, the technology can link the sound to a switch for an array of digital instruments including synthesisers, samplers, and studio effects. Following on from the most recent album Perceive Reality, Tre Trigger Contro Tre Trigger takes a slice of the recent work and builds on the foundation. Further inventing the new map of sonic progress that Khompa can unscroll, the new single features a complete live set of audio and visual triggered entirely by human percussion. Sabatta
Get Your Shit Together Blackfriars Entertainment Solo psychedelia from the sound capital that is London UK is revealed by prolific frontman and sonic exhibitionist Sabatta. You can either take it as a hint or as a swipe at those who let you down, convex and concave depth psychology applies with equal ease. Sabatta sings as he plays his guitar. Rampant chops reverberate along the funky jazz chords that glow in distinctive awkwardness along the groovy bassline. A groovy vocal line pushes the title of the track across in smooth and songful chants. Verse lines bring snappy lyrics that flutter in emotive grasps. Miguel Gil Tertre
CS40 Fuego En Casa Records Out now on the Belgian label Fuego En Casa, Miguel Gil Tertre brings the first in a series of releases made live on his array of Yamaha CS40 analogue synthesisers. Quite an achievement and one which requires an inept skill as well as lengthy practice sessions, mastering the capabilities of these devices is something to be admired. Devoid of some of the usual elements we may expect in electronic music, the beats and studio-frill take a step back to allow the glory of music to shine through pure tone and harmony. In the apt use of various sound qualities, created by tweaking the individual processes that make the output, Miguel Gil Tertre embarks on a dreamy and ground-breaking journey into the boundaries of this classic instrument. A dual tone of eerie depth spans out in a graceful melody. Another layer of twinkling clarity envelopes the sound with a moving cosmic dance. A spiralling display of slow motion fireworks carries the imagination outward in streams as the sounds reveal escapist realities within spaces reserved for the inner eye. Ghostly glitches hang gently in the evocative mix as layers grapple with the semblance of their projected dimensions. Atmospheric and meandering lanes of sonic mystery unravel in strange and delightful teacups of simmering golden brew.
