The Countdown To Paving The Way Has Begun And The Rocket Kings Of Reading Proclaim She’s Going To Mars
She’s Going To Mars
Alternative rock and pop group Rocket Kings present the second single from their upcoming new album. The twelve-track Paving The Way brings the sophomore sound with extra clarity, skill, and passion as the band plunge in to the talent pool of experience already gained. An ethic to reflect the upbeat and mindful style of bands such as The Beautiful South, The Cranberries, Teenage Fanclub, and Belle and Sebastian, the Reading-based quintet of composers rise to the challenge and meet the target face-on. Dave Stewart on ukulele and vocals, Bex Crossland on vocals and ukulele, David Heath behind the drums, Jess Tuthill on ukulele and vocals, and Yoshiko Nakayama with the bass, bring a huge sound of harmony and string with a hefty rhythm section to keep it all together.
A choppy riff opens the track with an upbeat and rock n roll sensibility. The drums kick in with a vocal section that instantly hits as more than adequate for the professional. None of these half-on musicians, this group are pitch perfect. A breezy and story-like delivery provides inventive lyrics that sit well on subject like comic book strips in perfect order. A tale of an adventuress with nothing to lose lifts us off the ground and shoots us up into some kind of musical orbit. She’s Going To Mars takes a tour of the solar system via catchy chords and lively rhythms draped in a quality melody.
