Lusitanian Ghosts
September European Phonographic From the upcoming Lusitanian Ghosts III LP, due on the 15th of September, the Canadian-Portuguese-Swedish collective of Iberian chordophone ambassadors bring September. This newly released single helps Lusitanian Ghosts to capture the magic of the end of summer with their traditional take on the up to date. Once again, the band have made the most of the music by recording it at Hamburgโs world-renowned Clouds Hill Studio. Akin to works by artists such as Elbow, Teenage Fanclub, and Peter Doherty, the legendary recording studio has been brought to life by the magic touch of Sebastian Muxfeldt. Lusitanian Ghosts founders and creative forerunners Micke Ghost and Neil Leyton have fortified the dream of bringing the endangered Portuguese chordophone to the party via upbeat and memorable rock n roll songs. A catchy drum score opens the tune with vibrant percussion and quick snare and kick. A sudden push of music brings the song to life as vocals and strings begin to add melody and groove. A rush of progressive chord changes catches the sail of the vocal as the song moves into the chorus and wails of mild distortion lend feedback and tone to the thriving mix. A happy and stylish flow pours from the song as an REM feel clatters with chunky basslines and energetic drumming to reinvent the traditional with modernity. Lusitanian Ghosts
Shameless Portugal Canada Sweden The latest sneaky peek at the forthcoming Lusitanian Ghosts III LP, which is due to be released soon, the band of the same name provide us with Shameless. A track about love, regret, and reconciliation, the neo-folk collective makes use of traditional string instruments including the endangered Portuguese chordophone, which needs to be repopularised. Since the release of Long Train, the first single off the new record, a run of positive attention has been ascending through social and media alike. Psychology says we each feel mixtures of guilt, shame, and nothing, and our internal messages are there for a reason - but sometimes the wires get crossed. As long as itโs not 0-0-0, we could all do with a bit of Shameless in our lives. It bursts open like a morning flower that scatters aromatic pollens into the garden. New vibes jingle on steel-string acoustics with a thundering bass beneath. Punchy and passionate vocal lines run laps on the circuit as the bars jostle in their happy-go-lucky bounce. The song reaches in and delivers not only a catchy rhythm but a deep and meaningful subject that we can muse on if we have the time. For the middle-eight, or maybe a bit longer and at the end, we get the slightly unfamiliar tones of a soaring guitar-pedalled thing that whooshes us up into the next track. The Long Train European Phonographic Taking talent from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, Lusitanian Ghosts have worked with Hamburgโs Clouds Hill Studios to bring their latest record. Taken from the new album, Lusitanian Ghosts III, The Long Train has been mixed by Sebastian Muxfeldt, whoโs worked on records by Teenage Fanclub, Peter Doherty, and Elbow. Describing themselves as producing the ancient sounds of the 21st Century, this neo-folk outfit are full of intrigue and mystique as their writing captures the essence of two periods of time. A vibrant tune opens with wandering bass tones and a flux of moving melodics. The vocals enter and draw on images we can all relate to. An effervescent energy bubbles through the music s choppy notes vibe on spinning axes of dream. A lo-fi feel evaporates as the clarity of the band punch through the hedonistic sensation. A compendium of happy feelings and big-picture visions combines the direction of joyous vibrancy that surges with the delivery.
