Featuring the twin talents of Tobias Wilner, from New York United, Ghost Society, and Blue Foundation, along with Jonas Bjerre, of Themes for Great Cities, Apparatjiik, and Mew, Tachys reveals another dimension to their quality of creativity. Musing on aspects of alternative and electronic pop with a creepypasta vibe that introduces an exciting edge, Tachys brings an inventive and original-sounding setting for the modern stage and stereo. Boy is a song about a narcissist, who plagued with feelings of guilt and shame, refuses to let go of the self-protection of feeling superior.
 
Haunting whistle tones expand into breath sounds with drums emerging from chrysalis like capsules of compression. Vocals enter and enchant with melodious swerves into higher tones as the band rumbles beneath. With expert composition, the music pumps with a gradual release of pressure until the tipping point manages to fling the fulcrum over to the other side. A rush of energy surpasses the ethereal beginning with new horizons of sonic framework. Space sounds range with zaps and effervescent synth chords that stroke the bass with delicate massaging fingers. A cosmos of electronic dream and dramatic virtuosity takes Tachys to the highest dimension of quality.

It’s been 30 years since Marmion released the ground-breaking Schöneberg. In this length of time, several artists have made an impression on the record with their own remixes and versions. Utilising the genius of one creator to drive the energy of something else equally as fascinating is what it’s all about. Now there’s plenty of material that directly relates to this seminal work and Superstition have decided to put it all on one almighty record. A plethora of 21 mixes that mirror the original album are now back-to-back and ready for release. To get the party started, the label has released this title-track version from DJ T. as the first single.
 
A running loop of hats, snare, shaker, and bass hits at full speed and gallops along the runway. Disparate sonics lend odd tangents to the flow as a new layer of rhythm enters the scene. A pulsing synthesiser begins to draw attention to the marching pace hidden within the frantic percussion. Slow and graceful melodics form within the neat and tightly packed parcel of drums. New synthesiser motifs twinkle and build within ghostly spaces held in gravity by the pulse and stride of the rhythm. A mix of various influences knits a tapestry of sound that all snugly nestles within the rampant yet perfectly mixed loops of percussion.

Originally from Canada and now well-travelled around North America farming sheep, teaching, and researching traditional music, Mike Tod has put it all together for a debut album. Taken from the record, The Blackest Crow sees Mike Tod take the classic tune and work it into a modern-sounding structure through up-to-date recording and production. By getting to the nub of old-time tunes and discovering the soul that provoked their composition, Mike Tod uses his passion and intellect to ensure these treasures are not forgotten. The album is bound to be a classic since it’s back to back with them, and with his training and experience, Tod is the best man for the job.
 
As birdsong and nature sounds unwind the silence, a pretty steel acoustic guitar begins to gambol through pasture like bars. A rhythm emerges in the flow then vocal and violin add a graceful and moody layer. Blues sensations in the song lend a melancholy and dream infused sway through windy open spaces. Slide guitar then forms new harmonies and abstract inflections to the winding road of words. The drums rise gradually in volume and the music climbs with new avenues of feeling with a female duet to help close the story.

Raising yet more currency for the brave people of Ukraine who are fighting a battle none of them asked for or provoked, London’s Rowsie present Makeshift Grave. A poignant title that hits hard like artillery to the heart, in which former teachers, shop assistants, street sweepers, and bloggers like me are asked to become killers. If it’s you or me then it’s me, right? Or maybe you. Until we can behave like adults and reject nonsensical and murderous orders that ultimately lead to rational and regretful orders of the same terrible magnitude, there will always be a need to pick up those dreadful devices. Ensuring that the best chance possible is given to those with that foul duty, Rowsie have so far raised over £10,000 of support. Saving lives and preventing poverty within the borders of chaos is one of the noblest aims we can aspire to, and they have hit the target from all this distance. Makeshift Grave is a track that raises funds directly for British-Ukrainian Aid.
 
A blues sounding rock guitar opens the track with a bumpy melody. A drum and bass join the tune as the harmonies in the strings hit true on the beat. A duet of vocals then forms a new layer that rises with energy and iconic imagery. A story of truth and memory combines with ever growing visions of what is happening on our doorstep. The band collaborate with energetic and lively chords with melodic notes on the top as the image of war is brought closer and closer.

Rumbling drums and juicy bass begin the track as a vocal sample enters. A new direction joins the flow with spiky synth melodics that climb and descend in rhythmic reels. With harmonies and builds, the dance pulse culminates in a euphoric pinnacle before the break reduces the music to rhythm and atmosphere. The vocal sample rings out again to make way for the driving harmonies and percussive keyboards that grow upwards in visible reaches for musical heights.

This sixth release encapsulates their direction even further with prolific shoegaze and dream-pop sounds that can never sound the same elsewhere.
 
 
Soaring tones fly upward with bass underneath as the music opens outwards and into our mind. Melody changes around vibrant middle tones as the electric guitar rises to meet the sunrise. Rivers of sound merge as tributary layers greet each other with unique sections of delicately placed sculpture.
