Sliver Of Light
Black Mesa Records
Out now on Oklahoma-based Black Mesa Records, Nashville’s Tim Easton renews his contract with the crowd one more time. Sliver Of Light takes the veteran of stage and studio to another chapter on the journey. The track features a video, made in Tennessee, directed by none other than Jamey Wood. The song was written about a shared friend who was on life support after falling over. Something that could happen to any of us at any time, the song is universally understandable. A travelling soul, Tim Easton grew up between Tokyo, Japan and Akron, Ohio. As he grew up, he began playing everywhere in between as a touring musician. A life of sound and expression has led Tim Easton to a level of quality and proficiency that only the very best grow into.
A moody guitar chord progression opens the music as Tim Easton enters with words about the illusory nature of the devil. The band rises with drums and bass with keyboard and harmony as the song works its way up the ladder. The driving sense of laid-back rock that feels like something from later Genesis albums reels on the rhythm as the melody shines with shards of truth. A cool swagger joins the marching as the lead guitar finds the perfect melodic interludes to sit between the words. A joyous and meaningful score meets the poignant and deeply felt lyrics about a moving subject. We can all find hope when we don’t shut ourselves off from the sliver of light.
