Berlin’s music scene is not just about electronica and industrial, there’s plenty of rock n roll and psy-funk to go around as well. Kei Car have taken the beat and made it their own with a successful run of releases, live shows, and media attention. It’s not that their vintage influences make them suitable for grandparents, but don’t be surprised if yours like this band as much as you do. Written during 2020 in a BnB somewhere in Brandenburg, Separate has been given the studio treatment and is now a quality radio single being played on an international basis.
 
A sleek and muffled rhythm opens out as funky guitar notes shimmer in the space between. A compressed vocal calls out like a telephone voice as melodic synthesiser begin to join the sway. A slow-dance rhythm takes hold as the music opens into clarity with a new chorus verse structure. A sense of the early 90s simmers on the low heat as a new wave of lounge sensation fills the bars. Emotions find themselves dressed in suits as they awkwardly take their turns to fuel the vocals. Gradual progressions and jazz-blues melodies feel their way through the spongy compositions of funky rhythms and shiny chords. Kei Car bring an evocative and meaningful atmosphere to a breed of easy listening we can all enjoy.
