38 long years have passed by since the last time The Room got together and made some new music. Dave Jackson and Becky Stringer took to stage and studio back in 1979 and after six years of hard work and musical growth, they decided to call it a day. That was until now, recorded at Ark Studios in Liverpool and released on 9x9 Records, the Restless Fate LP is ready and takes off from where they landed. Once lauded by the phenomenal John Peel, and with a performance on The Whistle Test, it’s assured that plenty of fans have been waiting for this day to finally arrive. Since their untimely split several years ago, members have been involved with many other projects including Dead Cowboys, Benny Profane, and Dust. Now back together and with a great band behind them, The Room is once again open for visitors new and old. The Drift is the lead single and is accompanied by a brilliant video.
 
It begins with a moody guitar that picks through a selection of chords. Deep and wholesome vocals then reach out from the branches to climb into the open air. Bass joins in as the guitar begins to strum. Drums lift the entire musical presence as quiet yet forceful snare rolls leap into vibrancy. Meandering and sleek, the song crawls through pretty sensations until it’s ready to stand on two feet. A swoosh of distortion warms up the song with a fuzzy feeling as the music takes a hold. The energy gentles down yet remains vibrant and positive as the next verse begins. Another burst of rhythmic rock shimmers in the gap between the words as the final chorus begins to decorate the bars, before the upbeat atmosphere fills once again.
