Out now on Brutal Resonance and Confusion Inc., Slighter is sitting high on his latest single Have No Fear. The electronic independence that fuels his extraordinary compositions grants as many wishes as he desires with unbounded talent in each cool and creamy scoop. In just under a month from now, Slighter releases his debut full-length record. The album will be called This Futile Engine and I think we can all get behind the feel in those words. Slighter, otherwise known as Colin C., is a home-grown Los Angeles talent with a ripple effect taking hold since his first serious music work in the 2000s. This recent project makes use of a sense of fire and what’s been described as “A creeping sludgy sex appeal” by Sounds and Shadows, thus Have No Fear is exactly what we need to hear.
 
The track opens with a down-deep chewy bassline and sinister slow-moving drums. A strange mix of sounds begin to pour from the tipping cup as vocals enter on ice-skates made of digital effects. Pulsations of synthesiser amplify through a swerving melody that spins on a turntable of black velvet. Vocal sections bring a sense of space to the thrust of digital rhythm and heavy body-grabbing bass. Meandering notes decorate the quick steps of tone that encapsule each push of the percussion section. A darkwave and industrial atmosphere merges with artistic flare to produce what makes a great entry for the new album.
