Defaultman / Pat Lezizmo
The Boy Who Recorded Birds
Producer and DJ Thierry Tomas AKA Defaultman has teamed up with Belgium’s premiere producer Pat Lezizmo in order to put together a new branch of the electronic dance family tree. Released as a two-track single, The Boy Who Recorded Birds is accompanied by The Girl Who Drew Flowers. A steady output of high-profile dance material flows from both artists and this companionship is likely to further their reach even more. The record feels right at home on Steve Bug’s Sublease impress where groove and bass get all the attention they need.
The beat hits immediately. A snare, cymbal, and bass drive carry forward and set a marching pace that gets everyone moving. Synths boil from the undertones and linger in subtle bubbling textures within the rhythm. Bass swings in with a funky melody that’s full of expression. Atmospheric bass-end tons form accented harmonies with the bassline as heady wisps steady the flow with tranquil overpasses. Moody and introspective, the outward projection of rhythm is graced by the delicate mixing and shifting sands of melody and pattern from within the stable frame.
