Telefis We Need From a hAon Dimple Discs Fans of the Pet Shop Boys, Talking Heads, and Kraftwerk will be enchanted by Ireland's answer to electronic dualism. This two-piece, named Television in Gaelic, sees a collaboration between the super-star producer Garret “Jacknife” Lee and primo vocalist Cathal Coughlan. Having worked with the likes of R.E.M., U2, Modest Mouse, The Killers, Snow Patrol, and many more, Jacknife now lives in L.A. Where he produces some of the world's most famous sounds. Irish born and living in London, Cathal Coughlan is best known for Microdisney and Fatima Editors. Working remotely during 2020 and beyond has resulted in this brilliant mash-up of unilateral and transatlantic talent. We Need begins with a subtle electro-beat that sprouts into a foray of percussion with bass, toms, snare, cymbal all scattering into the air. A groovy function animates the looping percussion as a poetic lyric begins. Song washes across the digital architecture with a passionate expression that grows in heat as the lines continue. Rhyming short sentences create an ambience and energy that swirls in empathic yet punky jostles into attention. Interesting, intelligent, and highly listenable, the rest of the album naturally awaits.
