With a new album on the way this April, A Cloud Of Ravens fly the roost from their home of New York to encircle the globe with their gloom rock sound. The duo brings their brand of heaviness to the fold with inspirations such as Killing Joke, Bauhaus, and Soft Kill (eBay links) ensuring their ethos sits on firm foundations. A song about dark times, that come and go like the night, Requiem For The Sun takes a powerful leap towards expressing the sense of hope and misery that encapsulates those who are under the waves. Together, Beth Narducci on the bass and Matthew McIntosh on guitar and vocals bring the energy, the power, and the impetus to look to better days. Perhaps when the tour begins at the end of March, the sun will already be up.
 
Cracking snare and bass drum rhythms break out with the slosh of hard-struck cymbal. A deep bass melody opens with rhythmic bursts of tone. Keyboards and electric guitar fill the void as the vocals begin. Gothic and spooky harmonies reverberate through projections of impassioned sound. A force of rhythm keeps the music elevated as the vocal section rises and falls in tidal motions. A building up of intensity fuels the verse before a punchy chorus lunges forward with eyes wide. A masterpiece of shadow rock, the fun and slightly sinister music reaches the deepest corners of the scene.
