Scheduled for worldwide release in the coming March, the Belgian shoegazers present the first single from their upcoming album Temporary Light. Fading Phase is our first delve into the depths of Antwerp’s muse and music through the creative talents of Newmoon. Mainly written on a battered but quality second-hand guitar, the vibes of its history and character shone through in the creative process. Rehiring their tried and tested producer, Thomas Valkiers, the band put their work in the best hands. To finish the job, they enlisted Simon Scott of Slowdrive to master the finality of the album. With a new drummer also on board to make the rhythm section spring back into life, Newmoon are keeping us all guessing as to what Temporary Light will be like. All we’re left with is this fascinating clue.
 
It begins with a bliss of chord and melody, harmonic tingles shimmer in the broadening vision as drums penetrate with pulsations of dream. As the voice begins, a heady reverb captures the intent and flutters it upward in streaming kinesis. The guitars rapture into forms of vibrant composition that mimic the vocal in murmuration-like cloud patterns. A driving sense of motion keeps the mind in activity as the gradual and grace-filled sweeps of sound continue to massage the sphere we sit within. A heavy push leaps upon us in a sudden swathe of distortion and a murky distance soars in to create an almost limitless boundary of sound in which we are hurtled forward in a weightless capsule of deliverance. Fading Phase from Newmoon is a progressive celebration of monumental aesthetics.
