Originally formulated back in dusty 1989, and in hiding since that time, The Everlasting Gobstopper is part of Illuminated 1989. A secretive album from shoegaze pioneers The Veldt, the record was produced by Robin Guthrie. He made his name working with The Cocteau Twins and has revisited this record earlier in the year to finish what was once started. The result is soon to be released, since being shelved by the record company all those years ago. Gobstopper is available now and is highlighted by a fantastic video produced by Jammi York and the late Yuko Sueta. Centred around Daniel and Danny Chavis, identical twins from North Carolina, The Veldt have made waves and beaten a path at the same time with their outpouring of new-wave and shoegaze material. Influential and inspired, the band continue to receive accolades in the media for their landmark creativity.
 
Bands of melodious guitar streak across the silence in progressive colours and spectra. A tuneful note joins to wail among the rustling leaves of broken-down chord. With a rush of drums, the vocal breaks through in a swirl of impassioned force. Chugging rhythms sing loudly with sunny chords and varied evocative effects. Wailing song penetrates the spirit with gleeful motion and suddenness that lifts like kites caught on the breeze. A surge of rock band thrust balances with bobbing waters of laid-back realisations. On and on, The Everlasting Gobstopper is exciting and introspective, the music invites sky-blue thinking and limitless imagination.
