Entertaining and invigorating, the psychedelic rock n roll duo Para Lia are ready with their third album out on Berlin’s About Us Records later this year. To get the party started we are given a ray of illumination in the guise of Sunchild. With a stunning video to brighten the day even further, the song gets us all intrigued for the 25th of August, when the warmest weather is in full swing and In Clash With The Zeitgeist emerges in full. The German duo were raised in Eastern Germany during the division and now live near Berlin. The name Para Lia is from the Greek word for coast or beach, and the music is inspired by the pace of life and the jovial atmosphere between friends and neighbours that they found there.
 
A range of synthesiser and rushing drums carries us away like a fast-flowing river. Guitars create a rock sense as bass hits the snare and melody, and the music rises with a oving sense of purpose. The vocals begin, deep baritone and bass voice drifts over in powerful and haunting words. The music builds gradually with each verse and the chorus is brought to life by a duet as female vocals slip over the top with folksong like harmony. Fiery guitar breaks and a punky attitude to the drumkit lends a punchy feel to the otherworldly and interestingly strange production.
