Re-emerging from a two-decade hiatus, Shudder To Think members Chris Matthews and Jesse Krakow relight the beacon with their new band Quiz Show. Along with drummer Joe Billy, the trio are triumphant once more with their New Jersey alt-rock sound. Their first album is due out later in the year and it contains two singles recorded a few years ago under the wing of living legend Ray Ketchem. Before working with Quiz Show he’d produced work by Gramercy Arms, Versus, Elk City, Luna, and Guided By Voices. Dime A Dozen is released alongside What If as a preliminary drum-roll for the entire album in March.
 
A funky drum score opens the track as a treble rich guitar begins to strike a melody to match the expressive vocal. Angst fuelled delivery encapsulates the vocal line as the pacey and dynamic guitar part feeds into the hardcore element. Chords rise from the single note melody that rings and resonates in spacious reverb. A punk and emo rock-fusion seems to force the musical energy into a catchy and hook-laden equilibrium that we can’t help but love. A twinge of attitude matches melodious rule-breaking as slightly discordant lines patch into the meticulously made music.
